Neshoba County General Hospital - Nursing Home RECEIVES NEW QUALITY-BASED ACCREDIATION FROM DNV GLAugust 2018 - Neshoba County General Hospital - Nursing Home recently announced the successful completion of its new accreditation process from DNV GL - Healthcare.
By earning accreditation, Neshoba County General Hospital - Nursing Home has demonstrated it meets or exceeds patient safety standards (Conditions of Participation) set forth by the U. S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. DNV GL's accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.
"The DNV GL program is consistent with our long-term commitment to quality and patient safety," says Lee McCall, hospital administrator. "The ability to integrate ISO 9001 quality standards with our clinical and financial processes is a major step forward."
Neshoba General has three years from the date of its accreditation to achieve compliance with ISO 9001, the world's most trusted quality management system used by performance-driven organizations around the world to advance their quality and sustainability objectives.
"We have taken an entirely different approach to accreditation, and hospitals are really responding," says DNV GL - Healthcare CEO Patrick Horine. "Since accreditation is a must-have credential for just about every hospital in this country, why not make it more valuable, and get more out of it? That's where ISO 9001 comes into play, and turns the typical get-your-ticket punched accreditation exercise into a quality transformation."
DNV GL's accreditation program, called NIAHO (Integrated Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), involves annual hospital surveys - instead of every three years - and encourages hospitals to openly share information across departments and to discover improvements in clinical workflows and safety protocols.

NESHOBA COUNTY GENERAL HOSPITAL AND NURSING HOME JOINS THE CERNER COMMUNITY WORKS FAMILYPHILADELPHIA, Miss. (Jan. 4, 2018) - Neshoba County General Hospital and Nursing Home (NCGH) has selected Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, to implement an integrated electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle management system across its acute, ambulatory and nursing home facilities. NCGH will leverage the Cerner Community Works deployment and support model, a prescriptive and cloud-based IT platform tailored to support community health care organizations that provide care to rural communities.
"We are very excited to be collaborating with Cerner," said Lee McCall, CEO, NCGH. "Our goal was to select the best system for our needs. I am confident that Cerner's integrated EHR system, multifaceted analytics and leadership in population health will help Neshoba to achieve strategic effectiveness and advancement of our mission in this new era of health care."
NCGH will transition to the Cerner Millennium ® EHR, a health care IT platform designed to support an individual's health care journey across the continuum -
from the doctor's office to the hospital and nursing home - with consistent patient engagement. The Cerner Millennium EHR system will provide NCGH physicians with an integrated digital record of their patients' health history, including clinical and financial data.
"NCGH's new relationship with Cerner is a huge win for our organization, our patients and our community," said Heather Nelson, RN, director of clinical informatics, NCGH. "We are excited to watch our organization grow and become more efficient while leveraging technology through the power of Cerner."
The solution's interoperability capabilities aid in the transfer of patient data between health systems across the country. Interoperability functionality supports physicians in having a comprehensive view of a patient's full health history, regardless of where care is delivered, which helps physicians make more informed care decisions.
"We are excited to begin this journey with NCGH to provide their community with high-quality, convenient care," said Michael Farrell, vice president, CommunityWorks, Cerner. "The Cerner CommunityWorks family is committed to supporting the people of Neshoba County and the financial viability of NCGH."
NCGH will now be able to integrate clinical and financial information into one patient record with the Cerner Millennium EHR and revenue cycle management platform. Cerner's Clinically Driven Revenue Cycle™ is designed to provide clinicians and staff with the resources to update the billing process throughout the patient's visit, enhance clinical documentation to help improve reimbursement and limit claims errors. NCGH patients will benefit by having a streamlined financial experience.
"In evaluating EHR systems, Cerner was the best fit for our organization," said Scott McNair, chief financial officer, NCGH. "The reporting capabilities will greatly enhance our accounting workflow, and having every department on a single platform will, hopefully, improve our revenue cycle performance."
