A Program Of Neshoba County General Hospital-Nursing Home
Senior life is a 10-bed inpatient mental health treatment program located on the 4th floor of Neshoba County General Hospital-Nursing Home. The program is specially designed to assist persons 55 years of age or older. The patient will receive compete physical and mental diagnostic evaluations by the Treatment Team while in Senior Life.
The Senior Life Treatment Team combines a multidisciplinary professional staff to assess the individual needs of each patient, and facilitate a specialized treatment plan. The treatment team consists of:
Primary Care Physicians
Allied Health Professionals
The Senior Life professional staff assists patients in the following ways:
Assess the unique needs of each patient, and target specific areas of concern
Provide appropriate medication if needed
Assist patients in making adaptations to their real life circumstances
Assist families in dealing with and preventing the patient from regressing to less adaptive states of mind
Assist patients/families in finding appropriate care not provided
The Senior Life Program actively involves the patient in a number of individual and group therapeutic activities, which may include the following:
Speech Therapy (as needed)
Physical Therapy (as needed)
Senior Life can help with:
Feelings of Helplessness
Feelings of Hopelessness
Giving up on life
Sleep and Appetite Problems
Combative or Disordered Behavior and any other related condition
Senior life is a community resource dedicated to assisting families in understanding the common problems associated with psychiatric illnesses in the elderly and to helping the families learn ways to become a positive support system for their loved one.
Referrals may be made by calling Senior Life directly or by contacting your family physician. A Senior Life representative will respond to your request for assistance. Most charges are covered by Medicare, and other providers. Mississippi Medicaid does not participate in this program.
