Critical Access Hospital Updates

Neshoba General Announces Intent to Apply for Critical Access Hospital Designation

Neshoba County General Hospital (“Neshoba General”) announces its intent to apply for designation as a Critical Access Hospital. This designation will allow Neshoba General the opportunity to continue providing access to quality health care services you expect including emergency services, hospitalization care, surgery, outpatient services, clinic services, and long-term and skilled care.

Rural hospitals may request authority to convert to critical access status upon meeting certain requirements including: being located in a rural area, having been designated as a medical underserved area or a health professional shortage area, meeting specific criteria regarding Medicare regulations, make available 24-hour emergency care services, operating no more than 25 acute care and swing beds, providing for proper patient referral when appropriate, and meeting the mileage requirement between Neshoba General and the nearest comparable hospital.

The designation of Neshoba General as Critical Access Hospital will provide our hospital with the greatest opportunity moving forward to meet our Mission of serving all by providing access to safe, quality health care. The planned date for Neshoba General’s conversion to Critical Access is October 1, 2025.

Information on this program is available in the Office of the Administrator. Inquiry hours are 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Additional information can also be found at www.neshobageneral.com.
