Neshoba General Responds to Neshoba County Nursing Home Fire

A fire involving an electric chair that was plugged into an electrical outlet was reported at approximately 11:00 a.m. today at Neshoba County Nursing Home.

The fire was quickly contained, and no injuries have been reported. Residents and staff in the affected section of the nursing home were safely evacuated, and the area has since been cleared. All residents are safe, and their families and guardians are being contacted to provide updates.

An initial damage assessment indicates that one resident room was directly impacted. Water from the sprinkler system also affected the hallway and nearby rooms. Cleanup efforts are underway, and we anticipate residents will be able to return to their rooms or be relocated to alternative rooms very soon.

The Philadelphia Fire Department and area volunteer fire departments responded immediately and took control of the scene, working to clear smoke from the building and ensure the area was safe. Personnel from the Philadelphia Police Department and Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office were also on site to assist with traffic and maintain a safe environment around the facility. Representatives from Philadelphia Utilities also responded to provide assistance.
